A DEF System Simulator (DSS) is a device that allows motorhome owners to avoid the coach's engine from being de-rated due to a Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) sensor failure. It allows them to safely operate their vehicle until a repair can be obtained. Upon installation, the DSS removes the de-rate condition and will allow the motorhome to reach a repair facility safely with full engine power.
The use of this device is not intended to be used as an emission defeat or delete capability.
With the DSS installed, the ECU will receive valid DEF level, temperature, and quality information allowing the DEF system to continue to operate. Manual monitoring of the DEF level, temperature, and quality is required until the failed DEF Head is replaced.
This particular device has a AMP 1-1703818-1 connector which is used on Freightliner chassis. Before purchasing this device you need to verify which connector type your motorhome has.
